Borno state governor, Prof. Babagana Umara has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, posted to the state for their primary assignment of adequate security during their service year.
The governor gave the assurance while receiving the Director General of NYSC, Brigedier-General Shuiabu Ibrahim and his entourage on a courtesy visit.
Prof. Umara acknowledged their visit as timely as Borno State is gradually recovering from the boko haram crisis and commended corps members serving in the state for their support and cooperation in the discharge of their duties.
The governor requested the NYSC DG to allow the next batch of corps members have their orientation programme in Maiduguri.
On the issue of state allowances, the governor directed the office of the Secretary to the State Government to have a comprehensive data of all the corps members in the state, adding that payments will be effected within one week.
The DG NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim appreciated the governor for addressing the problem of allowances of corps members and equally thanked people of Borno state for their hospitality to corps members in the state.
