President Muhammad Buhari has reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges across the country.
The president disclosed this in a message while commissioning the erosion and flooding control project in Suru local government area of Kebbi state.
President Muhammad Buhari explained that the clamity of erosion and flooding is crippling the socio economic development of rural communities.
Represented by Senator Yahaya Abdullah, President Buhari noted that the problem associated with flooding and erosion would soon be a thing of the past.
Earlier the Representative of Permanent Secretary, Ecological fund office Abuja, Musa Awalu Sani pointed out that the ecological fund office had spent over 5 billion naira in controlling erosion and flooding in Kebbi state.
The contract awarded in 2017 was aimed to control the erosion and flooding at the rice fields at Bendu and Aljannara communities in Suru local government areas of Kebbi states.
The benefitting communities interviewed by Radio Nigeria expressed happiness over the projects.
