The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Ibrahim Shaibu wants Corp members to avoid the un-authorised journey to curb the menace of sudden death and kidnapping of Corp members.
He stated this at the swearing-in ceremony of 2019 Batch B Corp members at Orientation Camp Kubwa in FCT.
Brigadier general Shuaibu reminded the Corp members that their parents and the nation have invested in them and waiting to reap the dividends, He added Many Corp members had lost their lives through a preventable road accident.
The DG NYSC also reiterated the commitment of the scheme in collaborating with the CBN and other corporate bodies to support the Activities that would make their orientation course a success and to improve the lives of Corp members.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Mr Chinyeaka Ohaa represented by the Director Finance and Administration Hajia Safia Umar urged Corp members to actively participate in all the camp activities which would also expose them to the ideology, custom and culture of the FCT.
Mr Ohaa promised that the FCT administration would continue to support Corp members in creating enabling environment for them to carry out their laudable developmental projects.
Earlier the Coordinator NYSC in the FCT, Hajia Walida Sedik Isah adviced the Corp members to shun all forms of social vices including indecent dressing capable of tarnishing the image of the scheme.
The NYSC coordinator in the FCT assured the Corp members of their welfare and their safety as the ultimate priority of the scheme.
No fewer than 2, 759 took their oath of allegiance administered by FCT chief Judge Ishaq Bello represented by Justice Samira Bature.
