Nigerian Navy destroys unserviceable firearms

Over two thousand eight hundred and twenty nine unserviceable weapons from Ondo state amnesty have been destroyed by the Nigerian Navy in Lagos.

Speaking at the commencement of the exercise, the commandant, Amarment supplies Naval headquarters Abuja, Rear Admiral Danjuma Dogoyaro said the weapons were the ones recovered from the Niger delta youths who laid down their arms

Rear Admiral Dogoyaro who admonised other agencies to do same to avoid the ammunitions falling into wrong hands, said the Naval Ordinance decided to destroy the weapons to avoid them being fabricated.

The Admiral Superintendent, Naval ordinance depot in ojo, where the exercise took place, Rear Admiral Abdul Adamu further explained that the Naval headquarters authorised the destruction of the weapons to ensure they were rendered unusuable

Rear Admiral Adamu appealed to sister agencies to do same to prevent the recirculation of the weapons in other for nigeria to have a crime-free society

The destruction will be carried out in 2days

The Nigerian Navy Ordinance depot was established in 1966 as a strategic establishment for the storage and inssuance of arms and ammunitions to the Nigerian navy fleet as well as storage of the ordinances of sister agencies.
