The Katsina State government has solicited the support of the National Automotive Design and Development council NADDC, in the establishment of an integrated Automobile and spare parts village.

The state governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari made the appeal during the presentation of the proposal to the Director General of the council in Abuja.

He said the proposed village would serve as skills acquisition centre for youth and also reduce heavy metal pollution of soil due to poor waste management among others.

Governor Aminu Masari appealed to the council to sponsor the training of the technicians and mechanics who would in return train others.

The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development council Dr. Jelani Aliyu who promised that the council would be part of the initiative said the trainees would be exposed to intensive training on repairs of all kinds of vehicles.

Dr. Jelani Aliyu added that over eight billion naira is spent by the country annually in the importation of used vehicles.
