About 23 people were reportedly killed in a fresh attack by bandits in Kabaje and Tunga villages of Sakajiki district in Kaura Namoda Local Government area of Zamfara state.
The local government chairman Hon. Lawal Isah Abdullahi told newsmen that the bandits attacked the villages at about Five o’clock in the morning, shooting sporadically at innocent people including farmers who went to their farms early in the morning to avoid scourge of the sun.
The Public Relations officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Shehu Muhammad who confirmed the incidence said, mobile police, conventional police, Airforce, Army and other security agencies have cordon off the area in search of the bandits.
Residence of the area said they observed some aerial surveillance with about three helicopters hovering in the air in the area.
