Nigeria police to upgrade security in Ondo

The Nigeria Police have expressed readiness to upgrade security in the riverside  area of Ondo State in a view of fighting increasing rate of crimes in the area.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police,Zone 11, Adeleye Oyebade said this while addressing stakeholders in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Mr Oyebade explained that arrangements were ongoing with the ondo state government to equip the Marine Police to attack suspected criminals in the riverside area.

The AIG pointed out that intelligence gathering had shown that the rate of crimes in the southern part of the state would escalate if not taken care of.

Mr Oyebade who was on a day familiarization tour to Ondo State. however, urged officers,especially the Divisional Police Officers,DPOs across the state to avoid acts capable of bringing shame to the force.

Some stakeholders at the forum had asked the AIG to direct DPOs to create a platform aimed at having periodic interaction with various youth groups as part of efforts to curb heinous crimes among them.

Others stressed the need for the Police to summon and warn herbalists across the state as the rate of ritualism is now a source of worries to residents of Ondo State.
