Some Civil Society Organizations have pleaded with President Muhammad Buhari to expedite action towards the release of Miss Leah Sharibu from the Den of Boko Haram.
This was the message at an event put together by Seven Civil Society Organizations to mark Miss Sharibu 16th year Birthday in Abuja.
The Civil Society Organizations and the Christian Association of Nigeria used the occasion to encouraged Leah’s Parents not to lose Hope.
The event started with a prayer session at the National Christian Center Abuja, before the groups staged a peaceful protest to the Unity Fountain to press the timely release of Leah Sharibu.
At the event, the Acting National Secretary, CAN, Bishop Joseph Daramola said the only inaugural gift President Muhammad Buhari could offer Nigerians was to ensure the immediate release of Leah Sharibu and other people from the Captivity of Bokoharam.
The Founder, the Para-Mallam Peace Foundation, the Reverend Gideon Para-Mallam and his Counterpart from the Leah Foundation, Dr Gloria Puldu were among the organizers who pleaded with the Federal government to speed up its effort towards the release of Leah Sharibu.
A Professor of Medicine whose Daughter shares Birthday with Leah, Prof. Funmi Adesanya-Davies also called on President Buhari to ensure the freedom of the 16 year old Dapchi Girl.
Sympathizers at the event prayed for and Celebrated Leah’s 16th year Birthday.
The Sympathizers also carried placards with various descriptions such as ” Leah Sharibu, Hero of Faith”, Act to keep Girls safe”, Leah Sharibu, Our symbol of strength and freedom.
