National commission for refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons has trained about 200 refugees on vocational skills in 3 local government areas of Zamfara state.
The refugees were trained on cosmetology, shoe making, oil processing, charcoal making, spaghetti and fertilizer production among others.
The trained refugees received start up packs and cash donation of N10,000 by the commission.
Federal commissioner national commission for refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons Hajiya Sadiyya Umar Faruk said the empowerment training was part of the commission’s commitments to ameliorate sufferings of victims of armed banditry in Zamfara state.
Represented by Deputy Director Finance, Alh Sambo Balarabe Gusau, the commissioner called on the beneficiaries not to sell the start up packs given to them, adding that the training will be extended to other local governments in the state.
