PMB declines assent to transport commission bill

President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to National Transport  Commission Bill recently passed by the National Assembly.

In a letter by the President on the decline of Assent to the Bill, He explained that the Broad Regulatory provision in the Bill as passed by the National Assembly conflicts with the areas of Regulatory oversight with the recently established Federal Competition and Consumers protection Commission.

The President pointed out that the provision of the Bill under part 21 section 110 sub 1 takes away the authority of the Minister of works as conferred by the Federal High way Act in the management, direction and control of Federal High ways in Nigeria.

The House in a separate motion on the urgent need to investigate the death of some Boys Brigade Members in Gombe state directed its Committee on Interior to investigate the matter and report back in two weeks.

The House also called for regular profiling of Security personnel to ascertain that they were in stable mood before handling arms.
