Nasarawa state police command says it has established a security Base near Nunma kochu village in Akwanga local government area of the state to tackle security challenges in that area.
Nunma kochu village is the community that was attacked by unknown gunmen two weeks ago in which 18 people lost their lives.
The state commissioner of police, Mr Bola Longe told Radio Nigeria in Lafia that a joint patrol team with the military has also been set up to fish out perpetrators of heinous crimes in the area.
Mr Bola Longe insisted that investigation is ongoing over the killings and explained that measures taken have started yielding result with the arrest of some persons suspected to be armed robbers.
According to the police commissioner, discussions have been held with the leadership of Fulanis and Mada tribes in the area to ensure peace and forestall reoccurrence.
Mr Longe gave an assurance that the command would strengthen activities of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC to enable residents give useful and prompt information to security operatives for necessary action.
