The Federal Fire Service has decried the incessant attacks on its personnel attending to distress calls.
The latest attack was when hoodlums confronted their men who had responded to a fire call at the Federal Housing Authority, Estate Lugbe, Abuja.
In a statement, the Controller General of the service, Dr Liman Alhaji has expressed concern over the attacks and wondered why individuals resorted to destroying fire trucks which are procured for the purpose of extinguishing fire and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The Controller General while condemning the attack said the assault on its personnel and facilities would no longer be tolerated.
He appealed to community leaders and appropriate authorities to prevail on the people to desist from such acts.
Dr Liman however urges Fire personnel to remain civil and focused on their duties whenever they are on distress call.
The statement adds that the recent attack has been reported to the Nigeria Police for investigation and prosecution.
The Federal Fire Service attributed some of its challenges to the delayed calls, bad roads, network failure and the attitude of some motorists who refuse to give way for fire personnel on distress calls.
