Kwara COED workers protest over salary backlog

The staff of College of Education Ilorin have staged a peaceful protest at the Kwara State Government House, to demand for payment of their seven months salary arrears among others.

Speaking with journalists during the protest, Chairman, College of Education Staff Union, Ilorin Chapter, Comrade Olasinde Bilkisu decried negligence of staff welfare by the state government.

She also lamented  poor state of infrastructure in the college.

Also speaking, Chairman Senior Staff Union, College of Education, Ilorin, Comrade Olomu Olaitan said about 30 members of the association had died due to insensitivity nature of the state government towards their plight.

He expressed disappointment that despite several promises by the state governor, Alhaji Abddulfatai Ahmed to pay up their arrears before the expiration of his administration, the situation still remains the same.

Radio Nigeria Correspondents Lawrence Afolabi reports that as at the time of filing this report, the outcome of the meeting between some executive members of the union, allowed into the government house and representatives of the state government is yet to know, as the meeting is still in progress.
