In line with the present administration’s objective to improve the ease of doing business ranking in the country, five states have received awards as the top five reformed states, in the year 2018.
The states include Anambra, Abia, Lagos, Enugu and Kaduna leading the 5 states.
While presenting the awards to the states at the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Awards ceremony 2019, at the State House, Abuja, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo expressed satisfaction over the successes of the PEBEC reforms.
Professor Osinbajo highlighted some of the reforms to include the ability to reserve a business name within 4-hours, Complete the registration of a company within 24 hours online.
The Vice President also said PEBEC had commenced the fourth 60-day National Action Plan tagged NAP 4.0, to run from the 1st of March to the 29th of April, 2019 to consolidate on existing reforms and ensure sustainability.
Professor Osinbajo also commended the National Assembly for its prompt passage of relevant bills and congratulated them for their award.
Other establishments and individuals that received awards at the ceremony included Corporate Affairs Commission, KPMG Nigeria, Court of Appeal and Nigeria Economic Summit Group as well as Mr Omotayo Omoniyi, a staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who returned a large sum of money he found to the authorities.
