The Ghanaian government has given a pass mark to the railway development plan of the present administration.
The Minister of Railway Development, Ghana, Mr.Joe Ghartey scored the administration high when he joined Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi for the monthly inspection of the Lagos Ibadan rail line.
Mr.Ghartey said there was a lot to learn from the giant strides recorded in the reconstruction of the 136 km Standard gauge rail project.
The Senate Committee Chairman on Land Transport, Mr.Gbenga Ashafa who was also part of the inspection team affirmed that an initial allocation of eighty billion
He assured that more would be added, once funds were available.
The Minister of Transportation, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi promised Nigerians that the Lagos Ibadan rail project, which would be extended to Kano would not be abandoned.
Mr.Amaechi expressed pleasure with the level of work done by the China Civil Engineering Company, contractors handling the project and gave an assurance that by the end of May the project should have reached near completion stage.
