Over twenty thousand students of the National Open University of Nigeria NOUN are to participate in the 8th convocation of the institution.

Speaking ahead of the Convocation in Abuja, The Vice Chancellor of NOUN Professor Abdalla Adamu said the large number was the highest single graduation of students in a single year in any tertiary institution.

Professor Adamu explained that the Presidential Assent to the amendment of the NOUN Act had empowered the University to enter negotiations with the authorities in charge of the law School and the NYSC to accommodate its students to contribute effectively to national development.

Professor Adamu said the national Open University of Nigeria has won a World Bank grant for the establishment of an African Center for Excellence on technology enhanced leaning.

He noted that the center would build capacity and bridge the technology knowledge gap through development and research into ICT solutions that would impact both public and private sector to foster economic growth in the country
