Nigerian Army hands over thugs to Police

Twenty-eight suspected political thugs have been arrested by the Nigerian Army in Abia state.

Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, the commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia, Brigadier General Abdul-khalifa Ibrahim said the suspects were arrested during the Governorship Election at various locations in the state.

He explained that most of the suspects were caught in possession of
electoral materials like ballot papers, ballot boxes, logs of political parties and military camouflages.

The Brigade Commander advised youths to shun Political thuggery which
according to him could lead to destruction.

Receiving the Suspects from the Army, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation, Mr Gabriel Elaigwu commended the Army for synergy between the Police and the Military.

In an interview with one of the suspects Chibuike Daniel who claimed to be
student of Delta state Marine school denied been a political.

Items recovered from the suspects include ballot boxes, ballot papers, INEC vests, specimen for campaigns, Military camouflages, three Sienna, cars, tricycle, handsets and some money.
