Police dispel ballot papers rumour

The Nigeria police in Sokoto state have dispelled rumour that a truck loaded with ballot papers was impounded by its officers.          

 The Public Relation Officer of the state police command ASP Muhammad Abubakar who dispelled the rumor during a news briefing at the police headquarters in Sokoto, said only two sacks containing specimen of ballot papers belonging to the PDP were seized from a member of that party.   

The PPRO added that during interrogation, the suspect Shehu Maidamma said the specimen of the ballot papers were meant for enlightenment of prospective voters on how to vote and not for any sinister motive.                            

He also said the suspect is still in police custody as investigation continues.                   

 ASP Abubakar reaffirmed commitment of the force towards ensuring adequate protection of election materials and violent free polls.
