The Director General and Chief executive officer of National Identity management commission, NIMC, Mr Aliyu Aziz has called on Nigerians to enroll for the national identification number at its enrollment centres across the country.
He made this call today at the Reforms Seminar organized by Bureau of Public service Reforms in Abuja.
Mr Aliyu Aziz said the ongoing exercise was aimed at ensuring all Nigerians were captured in the national database of NIMC.
The Director-General of Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr Ibrahim Arabi explained that the National Identity Number was crucial to the delivery of services and would assist the federal government to achieve its economic development.
Represented by the Director of Strategy, Innovation & Research Department, Mr Inyang Anyang said the seminar was to provide information to public servant about governance reforms and to hold the driver of reforms accountable.
The Postmaster-General and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Post Service, Barr Bisi Adegbuyi explained that with the existing Open location code, digital address system had already been allocated to difficult terrains across the country.
He stressed the need to collaborate with National Identity Management Commission to provide verifiable digital Addressing system to Nigerians and other relevant agencies to render e-commerce and digital services to Nigerians.
The Postmaster-General/CEO expressed optimism that NIPOST bill would be signed to law soon to allow the agency carryout its mandate efficiently.
