Committee advocates peaceful poll in Kaduna

National Peace Committee, United Nations and other critical stakeholders have held a dialogue forum aimed at ensuring peaceful elections in Kaduna state.

While addressing the participants, the state governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai reiterated the state government determination to ensure free, fair and credible election.

He said APC is committed to peaceful and issue base campaigns and urged parents not to allow politicians to use their children as political thugs during election

According to the Governor, he was impressed with the level of preparation by security agencies toward the conduct of the election, asked electorate to come out enmass during election to vote candidate of their choice.

He said it is duty of all stakeholders to ensure the forth coming election is violence free and thanked the organisers of the event such as Kaduna peace commission, INEC, UN and other stakeholders.

The representative of the United Nation Mr Mohammed Ibn Chambers said the meeting was a forum for dialogue among political parties with a view to achieve peaceful election before, during and after.

Mr Chambers noted that, the united Nation is supporting the National Peace committee to sensitise and promote confidence among stakeholders involve in the electoral process.

He pointed out that the goal of the forum was to mobilise stakeholders to commit to peaceful election and respect the rule of law.

The Chairman of the National Peace committee, General Abdulsalam Abubakar represented by Reverend Attah Barkindo said the committee was committed to ensure peaceful election and smooth transition

Meeting brought together various stakeholders in the next month general election.

The forum was attended by representative of Civil society organisations, religious and traditional leaders, Security agencies, INEC as well as other stakeholders.
