Presidency transmits N/Wage bill to NASS

The National Minimum Wage approved by the National Council of state has been transmitted to the National Assembly by way of an Executive Bill.

The Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly, Senator It’s Enang who confirmed this said that the document was transmitted on Wednesday afternoon and its expected to be read to members by the Presiding officers of the National Assembly.

The National Council of state had on Tuesday approved a Twenty Seven Thousand Naira Minimum wage for workers in the Country while the Federal Government had proposed a Thirty Thousand Minimum wage for its Workers, a development to which the organised Labour has rejected.

Given the exigency of the payment of new minimum wage as pressed for by the organised Labour, it is expected that the National Assembly would give the Bill an expeditious hearing.
