Gen Danjuma inaugurates school project

The Chairman, Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund, VSF, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) has inaugurated international model secondary school and college of preliminary and remedial studies in Takum, Taraba state.

Performing the ceremony on Tuesday in Takum LGA, Danjuma thanked the management of the Victims Support Fund for approving the project worth
the over one billion naira.

He said the fund was raised by individuals, the private sector as well as the Federal Republic Government of Nigeria to alleviate the sufferings of the victims of terror.

The Chairman charged the people of Taraba to take advantage of the school for the advancement of education in the state.

He recalled with nostalgia how it was difficult for people to have access to Secondary and tertiary education in the past and commended how education had been brought to their door step urging them to use the opportunity to protect the structure for the benefit of the community and outsiders who will benefit from it.

Mr. Danjuma revealed that the Victim Support Fund was raised by former President Goodluck  Jonathan  and called on people of Takum to strive at maintaining peace for the sake of development of the area.

Earlier in an address, Executive Secretary of the VSF, Prof. Sunday Ochoche said the project was the single largest one funded by the Fund and that  over One billion Naira was used to execute the it.

Ochoche who disclosed that the school was renamed from Government Secondary School (GSS) Takum to its present status, noted that “Victim Support Fund strives to continue to impact on people’s lives”.

Taraba state Governor, Darius Ishaku in a remark thanked the organization for choosing the state to benefit from the intervention program.

The Governor applauded the collaboration with the Federal Government towards the establishment of the school, promising to ensure that only qualified teachers are employed in the school with a community based committee to be established for the instruction.
