The Lagos State Assembly has adopted the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Public Petitions and LASIEC on the amendment to the State High Court Law 2015.
At the plenary, the House went into the Committee of the whole House to take and debate the report of the committee.
The Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, Public Petitions and LASIEC, Mr Tunde Braimoh representing Kosofe constituency two submittedthe report of the committee which recommends an increase in the number of judges in the state judiciary from fifty nine to one hundred and twenty.
He said the proposed increase was to decongest the dockets of judges and ensure speedy trial of accused persons.
Before adoption of the report, the Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa said the amendments would improve access to justice and ensure more effective justice delivery.
The vote for the adoption of the report of the committee was moved by Mr Olusegun Olulade representing Epe constituency two and seconded by Mr Rotimi Abiru representing Somolu constituency two.
