The Director-General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHSA, Mr. Clement Nze has advocated the construction of Small Earth Dams in flood prone areas across the country to mitigate the effect of flooding.
He made this known at the opening of a 3-day Induction and Training programme for Employees of the Agency in Abuja.
Mr. Nze, said NIHSA has continued to ensure the release of accurate and early warning data and information since the 2012 flooding that ravaged parts of the country.
Mr. Nze explained that, opening of drainages and early warning information would reduce the effect of flooding,
The Director-General of NIHSA added that the Agency would seek more collaboration with state governments and other key Stakeholders towards flooding mitigation.
