Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state said that he has provided a sum of N3.5 billion naira to enable resumption of work on the abandoned Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri road.
Governor Okowa disclosed this at the Delta Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rallies held in Warri Stadium.
PDP faithfuls and chieftains were gathered in their numbers at Warri stadium to cheer the Governor at the campaign rally.
Dr Okowa said that the aim of the project is to further boost economic activities in the oil-rich region.
Addressing the crowd, the governor disclosed that the 3 Kilometres multi-billion Naira project was abandoned by the contractor, Setraco Construction Company because the previous administrations owed the company N8.8 billion.
According to Dr Okowa, the contractor handling the abandoned Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri road has been mobilised with a sum of N3.5 billion to resume work on the road project.
Dr Okowa however assured the people that his administration is committed to addressing the perennial flooding in Warri and its environs.
He urged the electorates to vote for all the PDP candidates in the state and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as president.
The governor said his reelection would enable him to consolidate on his achievement adding that he had constructed a lot of roads and other infrastructure in Warri.
Commending the people on the peace that had returned to Warri, the governor urged them to sustain it to attract more development.
