Borno State Police Command has destroyed two hundred and forty eight bags of marijuana intercepted four years ago in Maiduguri.
Addressing journalists at the point of destruction in Maiduguri, the state Commissioner of Police Damian Chukwu said operatives of the Federal Anti Robbery Squad following a tip-off intercepted a truck conveying large quantity of dried weed neatly covered with Cheese-balls to evade arrest.
He explained that the suspect Kola Aladejobi was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Maiduguri and was subsequently convicted.
The Commissioner of Police also paraded four suspected kidnappers who on December thirteen, kidnapped one Usman Hassan of Tuga Village in Damboa local government area of Borno state.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of twenty one million naira before his release.
Mr Chukwu added that after receiving information about the incident, personnel of the Nigerian police and Civilian JTF mobilized and laid ambush on the kidnappers and arrested them at the point of collecting the ransom.
Items recovered from the suspects include one AK47 rifle with thirty live ammunition, one locally made Single Barrel gun and one Barreta Pistol.
According to the Police Commissioner all the four suspects have confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
