Teachers in Ekiti State have expressed their total support towards the growth of education with a call on government to prioritize prompt payment of salary, promotion and provision of modern teaching facilities across the schools in the state.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Ekiti State chapter, Mr Samuel Olugbesan made the call when National Representatives Executives of the union Mr. Fatal Oluyede led others on a courtesy visit to Ekiti State Deputy Governor Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi in his office, Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Olugbesan who described the executive order on education as a right step in the right direction, urged government to make more consultations with stakeholders’ to address all the grey areas.
He also called on government to always involve teachers in policy formulation to make the implementation of such policies easier.
Responding, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi said that no teacher would suffer under the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti.
Otunba Egbeyemi who re-emphasised prompt payment and promotion of Teachers, warned that government would not allow anyone to truncate the efforts at repositioning the education sector.
