Bribery: Kano Assembly accepts court order

The committee set-up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the alleged bribery allegation against Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje has agreed to obey a court order pending the determination of a motion of notice.

The Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Baffa Danagundi stated this following the high court interpretation of its earlier decision restraining the committee from further investigation of the matter.

The court presided over by Justice Ahmed Badamasi had ordered the committee to stop the investigation pending its final judgement.

The order followed a suit filed by National Coordinator of a Non-governmental Organisation, Lawyers for Sustainable Democracy in Nigeria, Muhammad Zubair, that the Assembly has no right to investigate the matter.

The committees chairman said the Assembly was a law abiding arm of government, and therefore would obey the court.

A video of Governor Ganduje emerged depicting him collecting wad of dollars as kickback from a contrator, who still remains unknown.
