Parents urged to promote cultural values

Parents and Teachers have been urged to Champion the Course of promoting Indigenous Languages, Cultures and Unity among various Tribes in the Country.

The Vice Chairman, Parents -Teachers Association of Merry Bell Academy, Jikwoyi Abuja, Mrs Deborah Alade-Thomas made the call during the School Cultural Day Festival.

Mrs Alade-Thomas explained that Nigeria has diverse cultural identities,hence the need for Parents and Teachers to promote the Unity and Peace of the nation by teaching their children indigenous language, Food, culture and love to one another.

The School Director, Mrs Gloria Jeremiah maintained that formal learning through Nigerian’s local dialects would enhance development of the Nation.

Mrs Jeremiah called on Parents to instill their cultural values, norms and tradition on their Children.

Some Parents, Mr Ahmed Bazubairu, Mrs Fatimah Abubakar and Mrs Charity Bennet who graced the occasion with their indigenous attires and foods blamed the problems affecting the the Unity and Peace of the country on selfishness and greediness by some people.

While appreciating their Parents and Teachers for showcasing them their cultures, some of the pupils of the School, Simnda Wabbas, Rahmat Abdullahi and Happiness Jacob promised to promote their Cultures.

High-points of the event were presentation of Variety of Indigenous foods, Drama, and Songs.
