Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has emerged as the 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue.
Governor Ortom defeated other three contestants; Paul Orhii, Felix Atume and John Tondo, at the primary election.
The chairman of PDP Electoral Panel for the state, Hajia Zainab Maina announced that Governor Ortom scored 2,210 votes to emerge winner, while Tondo got 475 votes and Atume and Orhii polled 44 and 10 votes respectively.
She said the election was free, fair and peaceful in line with the constitution of the Party.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Ortom commended the delegates and promise to ensure unity among party members for the progress of PDP.
He maintained that all aspirants would be carried along in the development of the state.
