
Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari says she will continue to support initiatives that foster the wellbeing of women and children.
At the 55th anniversary and relaunch of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa (Northern Women Association) in Kaduna, she promised to provide the needed support to the organisation to continue to help women and children.
Mrs. Buhari was representated by the wive of the Nasarawa state governor, Hajiya Mero Almakura.
The chairperson, resuscitation committee of Jam’iyar Matan Arewa, Mrs Aishatu Sadauki said the vision of the association was to be a world class organisation that would unites northern women economically, socially and culturally to contribute to national development.
She said Jamiyyar Matan Arewa was a northern women organisation that operate irrespective of religion, tribe, and political inclinatiion, to impact on the society.
In a Lecture, ‘The North and the Challenge of Leadership: Women’s Perspective’, a women’s right advocate, Hajiya Saudatu Mahadi urged the association to make concerted effort to ensuring that girls in the north are educated.
She stressed the need for Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa to work with others women organizations in the region to achieve its objective.
Governors wives, ministers, and prominent women from the northern region attended the event.
