3 local government chairmen in Benue state have been suspended by the state house of assembly for three months over alleged financial impropriety and gross misconduct.
Chairman of Gwer east local government ,Mr Vitalis Uaah, Ogbadibo LGA, James Akola and his deputy, as well as the chairman of Vandeikya local government, Mr Dennis Akura.
In a letter to the House by Governor Samuel Ortom, he said following investigations and advice from the Attorney General of the state, the chairmen were found wanting and therefore requested the House to approve their suspension.
Members unanimously agreed that the allegations were weighty and and gave approval for their sanction.
The Speaker, Mr Titus Uba directed that the Chairman of Ogbadibo and his Deputy should hand over to the leader of the legislative House, while the Chairmen of Gwer East and Vandeikya are to relinquish power to their deputies who would be sworn in as substantive chairmen this morning, Thursday.
