Ebonyi state government has reopened Abakaliki Rice Mill days after sanitizing it of poisonous and adulterated rice discovered in the area.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Dr Kenneth Ugbala told newsmen in Abakaliki that preliminary investigations carried out on the matter showed that some bags of the poisonous rice were discovered in shops belonging to the leadership of Rice Mill Dealers Association in the area
He said leaders of the Rice Mill had been suspended indefinitely.
A sample of the alleged poisonous rice had been sent to the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC for laboratory test.
