At least ten people have been killed in a bus accident in South Africa’s semi-desert Karoo region.
Traffic officials said the bus was traveling from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape and overturned in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The accident, which occurred at around 2 AM (2400 GMT) 50 kilometers outside the town of Beaufort West, injured another thirty passengers.
“The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle which then overturned,” Kenny Africa, provincial traffic chief for the Western Cape told Reuters.
Last year, more than 14,000 people were killed in road accidents in South Africa, according to official statistics.
