In Bauchi State, about one hundred people are currently undergoing a two-day Capacity Building against Drugs and Substance Abuse, with a view to curtailing the menace.
The training is organised by Office of the First Lady Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar in collaboration with the State Ministry of Social Welfare, Youth and Sports.
The participants were drawn from different fields of endeavour to include NDLEA, NOA, NAFDAC, Ministries of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, Women Affairs and Child Development, NGOs as well as CSOs among others.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, Mrs Lydia Shehu said the workshop was to educate the participants on drug abuse and its negative effects so as to guard against the situation.
Mrs Lydia Shehu called on them to concentrate fully to avoid waste of time and huge resources injected by the government.
The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi emphasised the need for all Hands to be on deck to champion the course of the fight against Drug and addiction to have a healthy society.
The Assistant State Commander in-charge of Admin and Logistics, Mr Adinoge John said highlighted drug abuse as a very serious issue that is better prevented than curing it.
The Workshop has at its theme, “Say No To Drug Abuse”.
