NIHSA issues flood alert in 7 states

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHSA, says flooding is likely to occur by the banks of River Niger.

A statement by the spokesman, Engr Clement Nze said Kainji and Jebba dams are already spilling water downstream.

It says the level of water in Lokoja today, Wednesday 29 has exceeded the corresponding value on 29/8/2012.

It adds that residents of Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Anambra, Delta and Bayelsa, especially those living in riverine areas should relocate to safer abodes.
