Mrs Buhari makes case for women in politics

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has called on Political parties to develop strategies that would create a level playing ground for female aspirants to participate actively in the political process.

She made the call at a News Conference in Abuja on the upcoming summit on Female Political Aspirants coming up later in the week.

Represented by the Senior Special Assitant to the Wife of the President, Hajo Sani, Mrs Buhari decried the low presences of women in the political space which had denied them the opportunity to contribute to decision-making processes.

The Director-General of the National Center for Women Development, Mrs Marty Ekpere- Eta explained that through the bottom -top approach women at the grassroots would be encouraged to participate in politics at the grassroots level.

She Further said that the prosecution of election offenders was fundamental in ensuring a safe and secure environment for women to actively participate in politics.

The Summit Organized by the office of the wife of the President is in collaboration with the National Center for Women Development and other women Non-Governmental Organizations.
