Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Kokumo said the Command will not leave any stone unturned in arresting the fleeing suspects involved in robbery two commercial banks in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government, Edo State.
CP Kokumo gave assurance when parading corpse of three members of the gangs killed by men of the Command during the robbery operation at the Command’s Headquarters in Benin City, Edo State.
While explaining effort put in place to arrest other suspects, CP Kokumo said the police were able to extract some useful information from one of the suspects before he gave up the ghost.
CP Kokumo who said contrary to the earlier reports in some media that eleven casualties were recorded noted that sadly six people, one Police Inspector, two suspects in Police custody and three members of the gangs were the casualties recorded.
He explained that before the gang carried out the attacks on the banks, some of their members attacked the police station in an attempt to the dislodged possible response from them resulting to the death of the two suspects in the police custody and a Police inspector.
According to the Commissioner of Police, apart from the casualties recorded, the robbers were unable to have access to the vaults of the two banks unlike they did in 2015.
CP Kokumo who said the Command has put adequate arrangements in place to forestall similar attacks commended the effort of his men in their quick response in dislodging the gangs.
The Police Commissioner while calling on members of the public to be vigilant appealed to them to report any suspicious moves that could help the police in her investigation.
