Kano assembly tasks MDAs on obligations

The Kano State House of Assembly says it will not hesitate to take appropriate action on any MDAs that Fail to meet its obligations of what is expected from them in working within the approved budget.

The Speaker Kano State House of Assembly Rt Hon Kabiru Alhassan Rurum gave the warning while declaring Opening of a Three-day Sensitisation Workshop on the Development of 2019-2021 Economic and Fiscal Update organized by the State Ministry of Planning and Budget in Collaboration with DFID-PERL.

Represented by the House majority leader, Hon Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, he reminded and cautioned  MDAs to note that the resource Allocations remitted to their various organizations for Optimal and Judicious Utilization of public Fund, through the effective Oversight function of the Honourable House.

Rurum reiterated the house total Commitment to sanctioning any MDAs found wanting.

He pointed out that some organisations were hiding or playing delay tactics in giving the necessary information requested by the Standing Committee of the House, he, therefore, urged the state Commissioners and other stakeholders to cooperate with the House any time the Committee of the House is in need of any Information, been the partners in making Kano State Greater than ever before.

RT Hon Rurum, then called on the Participants to participate actively throughout the workshop in order to have a good understanding of the Budget processes, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation as it relates with International best practices.

The Speaker expressed his Optimism that the gathering will provide a great opportunity for peer learning, especially from the Development Partner.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Hajia Rabi Ja’afar Commended the state Executive Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the State House of Assembly for their support and encouragement to the Ministry.
