The need for Nigerians to pay more attention to school – based counselling for enhanced national growth formed the highpoint of deliberations at a gathering of professional Counsellors in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Transforming Nigeria’s education in the 21st century through counselling was the focus of participants at the forum.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state emphasized the need for stakeholders to use counseling as a potent tool for building a virile nation.
Governor Amosun said proper counsels would check suicidal tendencies and other psychological challenges in the society.
In a lecture entitled ” Co-constructing a Policy Advocacy Agenda to support School Based Counselling in Nigeria” an expert from the university of Massachusetts, United States of America, Professor John Carey explained the need for people to appreciate the importance of counseling and the global peculiarities.
