ABU to represent Nigeria at ENACTUS World Cup in US

Ahmadu Bello University ABU, will be representing Nigeria at the Entrepreneurship Action and Us, ENACTUS World Competition at Silicone Valley in the United States.

In a statement in Zaria, Kaduna State,the Director, Public Affairs Directorate, of the ABU, Dr Ismaila Shehu said over thirty six countries were expected to participate in the world tournament, in the US, State of California in October this year.

ABU will be representing Nigeria, following the emergence of it’s team, led by Usman Suleiman Waziri and Paul Onaji under the supervision of ABU ENACTUS Faculty Adviser, Professor M K Aliyu as the overall winner of this year’s ENACTUS National Competition held in Lagos.

The ABU led team won the Lagos tournament on account of it’s project on an artisanal mining community in Bagega village in Zamfara State, where several people including children lost their lives due to lead poisoning as a result of gold mining.

The team intervened by developing a water filtration mechanism which provides clean water to the community and a Jathropha Integrated Energy Scheme, through the planting of Jathropha trees for remediation of the contaminated soil.

ENACTUS which means, Entrepreneurship Action and Us, is the largest student body that organizes students across different disciplines towards the development of projects aimed at solving specific socio-economic problems in their respective communities.

Ahmadu Bello University has been patricipating in the ENACTUS National Competition since 2004, last year it also emerged overall winner and represented Nigeria in London for the ENACTUS world cup.
