Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse has advised Benue youths against engaging in thuggery ahead of next year’s general elections.
Professor Ayatse also cautioned top politicians in the state to play the game according to the rules in order to maintain unity and peace in the state.
The Paramount Ruler who spoke at NKST Central Church, Gboko during a thanksgiving service in honour of Governor Samuel Ortom explained that the essence of politics is to bring development.
He maintained that those who are bent on causing crisis in politics to boost their interests would not succeed in their ambition, saying the traditional institution on its part would remain neutral.
Governor Samuel Ortom on his part stated that his ambition to seek re-election was not worth spilling the blood of anybody and re-echoed the views of the Paramount ruler that politics is about development.
Governor Ortom said although his first term in office is laden with financial challenges which has caused irregular payment of salaries, it would be overcome in the end given improvement in the economy.
Earlier in a sermon, Registrar, Reformed Theological Seminary, RTS Mkar, Reverend Isaac Ngobua encouraged Governor Ortom to remain resolute in spite of the challenges and God would give him victory.
Radio Nigeria reports that prayers were offered for Governor Ortom, peace in the state.
