Lagos steps up advocacy on drug abuse

The Lagos State government is set to  inaugurate an advocacy  against Drug Abuse

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Agboola Dabiri, who made this known during a  News Conference at Alausa Ikeja said the advocacy,  known as Lagos State Kicks against Drug Abuse  “LASKADA”. would increase awareness and educate people about the inherent dangers in drug abuse.

Mr Dabiri explained that the advocacy is particularly targeted at dissuading youths from getting involved in the harmful practice.

The Commissioner said the state government aims to achieve the feat using a Tripod approach of Events, Engagements and Awareness to press home the campaign in the minds of the youths who are the most vulnerable

“What we want to do on Thursday is to launch this campaign and show that we are ready for war against all forms of drug abuse. Once we launch out, we are going to have series of activities on various platforms and we will employ every avenue to ensure that the campaign gets to the nook and cranny in the State,” he said.

According to the Commissioner, the campaign will commence with a one thousand symbolic walk against Drug Abuse on Thursday this week,  while subsequent sensitization would be taken to Churches, Motorparks, Schools and Local government areas.
