Benue partners SDGs on health care delivery

The Benue State Government is to strengthen collaboration with the office of the Presidency on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs to attract more people oriented projects to the state.

Governor Samuel Ortom stated this today during the foundation laying of the Mother and Child Hospital in Makurdi which is a joint project between the state Government at the SDGs office.

Governor Ortom explained that due to the partnership with the office of the Presidency on SDGs several projects have been executed across the state which are positively touching the lives of the people.

He enumerated some the projects to include construction and equipping of skills acquisition centres, orange packaging plants, soya beans processing plant, garri processing plants, primary health centres and class room blocks as well as solar power boreholes.

The expressed optimism that the Mother and Child Hospital when completed would help to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate in the state which he said was one of the major challenges of his Government.

In her speech, Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and NEPAD, Dr. Magdalene Dura said the project was a brainchild of Governor Ortom following his discussion with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Adefulere.

The contractor handling the project, Engineer Kayode Ajibade thanked the Benue State Government for selecting him out of many that bidded for the project and promised to complete it within twenty four weeks.
