Well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations have been urged to assists prison inmates with prayers and materials to enable them become better citizens especially during the Ramadan.
The Chairman of Muslim Ummah in Gwarimpa FCT, Alhaji Lawal Garba gave the advised while donating gifts items to prisoners at the Suleja prison in Niger State.
Alhaji Garba explained that the gesture was part of the social Responsibilities of the organization during the month of Ramadan.
He admonished the prisoners not to lose hope in the oneness of Allah and enjoined them to always seek for forgiveness in their daily prayers.
Alhaji Garba said the visit has facilitated the released of about twenty inmates, who have committed minor offences.
The Director Da’wwah of the Muslim Ummah, Mallam Sale Babaji Challenged them to be good citizens and make good use of their new found freedom.
Mallam Sale also stressed the need for government to consider the reformation of the judicial system in the country to enhance the decongestion of the prisons.
Some of the freed inmates thanked the Muslim Ummah for coming to their aids and promised not to go back to their old ways of life again.
The freed inmates comprises both Muslims and Non-Muslims including A Ghanaian.
Items donated to those awaiting trial and the serving inmates include, Bags of Rice, Bathroom slippers, buckets, cloths and prayer mats.
Over four hundred inmates are in Suleja prison with various offences.
