Police arrest 47 Biafra movement members

Police arrest 47 Biafra independent movement members in Abia state for alleged violation of law and breach of peace.

Parading the men at the state CID Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Anthony Ogbizi said that they were arrested along Port harcourt Aba expressway where they were obstructing vehicular movement.

He said they would soon be charge to court for impersonation as most of them were caught wearing military camouflage.

Mr Ogbizi warned youths to desist from acts that could lead them to trouble stating that the Police and other security agencies were ever battle ready to deal decisively with anyone caught breaching the peace being witness in the state.

In an interview the leader of the group Chief Jude Odoemelam from Isiala mbano in Imo state said that they were members of Biafra Independent Movement embarking on a peaceful celebration of their 19th Anniversary in Aba when they were arrested by the Police.

Items recovered from them were three BIM flags, BIM banners and Biafra logos.
