The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman, says there is a need to ensure that the channels into the Warri ports are dredged.
Speaking with State House correspondents after briefing the Federal Executive Council, at the Presidential Villa, Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman said the Nigerian Ports Authority requested FEC to approve works for Escravos channel in Warri and its navigation to surmount the challenges being faced at the Nigerian ports.
According to her, it would change the fortunes of the Warri ports and expand the utilization of the eastern ports with the notion that there was a need to ensure that all ports locations were given the seamless access by providing dredging works.
On the issue of curbing corruption, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) also said she had been able to promote transparency and eliminate corrupt practices in the agency.

On Calabar Port, Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman said they had reached an advanced stage for the procurement of the dredging works for Calabar.
She added that they had inherited a system that did not go through the relevant processes which were terminated and gave assurance that on the conclusion of the Calabar Port her agency would seek Federal Executive Council’s consideration for the dredging works for Calabar.
