US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, on Monday shorten his maiden tour of Africa due to work, aides said.
“Due to demands in the secretary’s schedule, he is returning to the US one day early, after concluding official meetings in Chad and Nigeria,” Undersecretary of State Steve Goldstein told the press.
Tillerson also visited Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya..
While he was in Africa, President Donald Trump announced he accepted North Korea’s invitation for direct talks with its leader Kim Jong-un by May.
No specific plans have been set.
He had initially been scheduled to stay there overnight in Nigeria, hold further meetings with US embassy staff and then fly back to Washington.
