The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has been urged to increase it’s interventions to Polytechnics in the country.
The Rector, Niger State Polytechnic Zungeru, Dr. Umar Ahmed Egbako made the call at the twenty seventh matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic.
Dr. Egbako who was represented by the Director Bida Campus of the polytechnic, Alhaji Zakari Yahaya, said the Fund has assisted the institution put in place necessary facilities that would aid teaching and learning.
He however called for more funding to enable polytechnics meet their mandate of providing the manpower needed to drive the nation’s technological growth.
The Rector who pointed out that the 16th combined convocation of the school would come up next month, said the institution has entered into affiliation with Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto to run Post Graduate Diploma Programmes.
Dr. Umar Egbako explained that servicom unit has been strengthened to promote due process amongst staff and students.
The Rector pointed out that frantic efforts have been made to improve human capital development.
A total of one thousand, five hundred and ninety nine students were matriculated at both campuses of the polytechnics in Bida and Zungeru.
