The federal government has reassured internally displaced persons better life and improved welfare in the country.
The Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displace Persons, Sadiya Farouq stated this on Tuesday, while distributing educational materials and food items to the motherless and displaced persons at the IDP camp, Ughogua Ovia North East council Area of Edo state.
Represented by her special Assistant on media, Halima Musa, the Federal Commissioner expressed the presidency’s commitment through the commission to fully rehabilitate and improve the general well being of displaced persons across the country.
She maintained that the relief materials distributed to the IDPs would go a long way in bringing great hope, relief and embolden their aspirations in life.
Hajiyah Sadiya stressed that the commission was focused in supporting those activities that would permanently bring an end to all forms of displacement.
She gave an assurance that everything that is needed for the welfare of children would be provided.
The Federal Commissioner who lamented the poor psychological state of displaced persons, caused by insurgents, praised the Director of Uhugua IDPs camp and Edo state government for housing the displaced persons from the North Eastern part of the country.
On his part, the Director of the camp, Reverend Solomon Folorunso praised the governments for the support and upkeep of IDPs, noting that the relief materials brought to the camp have brought great relief to the people.
Some of the relief materials distributed included bags of rice, garri, cartons of groundnut oil, bags of salts, cartons of seasoning as well as educational materials.
